Appointment Of Zodwa Penelope Manase As A Non-Executive Director

The Board of Brinkley Mining is pleased to announce that Ms Zodwa Penelope Manase has been appointed a Non-Executive Director of the Company with effect from today.

Gerard Holden, the Company's Chairman said:

Ms Manase is a highly experienced accountant and business woman who brings with her a wealth of experience at senior corporate and government levels in Southern Africa. The Board looks forward to the significant contribution she will make to the company."

Ms Manase serves on the board of the South African State Information Technology Agency ("SITA") after chairing the board from 2002 to 2005 and serves on the Board of the Reserve Bank of South Africa. Zodwa is also a member of the audit committee of the Reserve Bank of South Africa.

Ms Manase is the chairman of the audit committee of The Presidency of South Africa. She is the chairman of the audit committee of a number of other entities that report to The Presidency, namely; Government Communication Information Systems (GCIS), the International Marketing Council (IMC) and the Media Diversity Development Agency (MDDA).

She was the first chairperson of the audit committee of the South African Government's National Intelligence Services from 2000 - 2003.

Ms Manase is a qualified Chartered Accountant with B.Com, B.Compt Hons from the University of South Africa and a Higher Diploma in Tax from the University of Natal. She served her atricles with Deloitte Haskins and Sells (now Deloitte & Touche) after which she held various financial management positions at Shell SA, C G Smith (Smithchem) and Spoornet. In 1996 Ms Manase established Manase & Associates, a firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Consultants. Ms Manase is the Chief Executive Officer of the Manase & Associates.

From 1998 to 2002 Ms Manase served as a board member in the South African Central Energy Fund, Soekor, Mossgas and the Medical Research Council (MRC). She chaired the audit committees of these Boards and was instrumental in ensuring the implementation of the new Public Finance and Management Act ("PFMA") in South Africa, the main objective of which is to ensure that government entities are managed efficiently and effectively.

Ms Manase is a member of the following professional bodies: the Independent Regulatory Board of Auditors (IRBA (formerly the Public Auditors and Accountants Board (PAAB)); South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and the Association for the Advancement of Black Accountants in Southern Africa (ABASA). She has also filled leadership positions as the Chairperson for the Association for the Advancement of Black Accountants in Southern Africa (ABASA (Kwa-Zulu Natal) (1994 - 1995) and as a council member for the Eastern Central and Southern African Federation of Accountants (ECASAFA) (1996 - 1998).

Ms Zodwa Penelope Manase has been awarded 4 million options to subscribe for ordinary shares in the Company at an exercise price of 50p per ordinary share, with a term of 5 years from the date of this announcement. The option agreement will also include an undertaking by Ms Manse that she will not sell or dispose of any ordinary shares that she might become interested in, inter alia, by exercise of her options, on or before 13 September 2007.
